The Omega Seamaster in these days is delivered to the retailers. I already had one in my hands and I took some photos for you…
First of all I have to admit that the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet is one of my favorite novelties of this year. When I some days before Baselworld 2013 saw the divers watch at the Omega HQs in Biel I was impressed.
What a beauty and what a convenient watch for travelling!
The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet is equipped with the Omega in-house automatic caliber 8605 that offers a second zonetime indication by a 24-hour-hand. The time adjustment is done very easily by only unscrewing and pulling out the crown and changing the hour hand to the appropriate time. While doing this you will of course NOT loose your correct minutes and seconds, since the hour hand can be adjusted independently. The 24-hour-hand will then show you your home time. Besides this the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet, with its 43,5 mm diameter, is a watch that perfectly fits on (even) a small wrist. With its blue rubber strap tis Omega looks just cool!
A true beauty…
The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet features a bold blue lacquered dial with applied indexes.
The polished and facetted rhodium-plated hour and seconds hands and aluminum-fashioned GMT hand are coated with white Super-LumiNova which emits a blue light. The rhodium-plated minute hand is also coated with Super-LumiNova but emits a green light, as does the dot on the diving bezel.
There is also a date window at the 3 o’clock position. A domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal – enhanced with anti-reflective treatment on both sides – protects the dial from damage above and below the water’s surface.
The bright orange GMT scale on the bezel ring and central GMT hand make it possible to track two separate time zones, ideal for the frequent traveller.
The lacquered orange 24-hour scale stands out on the bi-directional polished blue bezel ring, a feature which complements the helium-escape valve located at 10 o’clock on the brushed and polished 43.5 mm stainless steel case. The case back, engraved with “GoodPlanet Foundation”, also features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
Co-Axial-escapement…
The Omega Co-Axial caliber 8605 is a self-winding movement with a three-level Co-Axial escapement and Si14 silicon balance spring. This timepiece performs with such reliability and accuracy that Omega offers a full four-year warranty.
The GoodPlanet Foundation…
The GoodPlanet Foundation, founded in 2005, strives to inspire every person on Earth to live lifestyles that respect our shared environment. The organization promotes optimistic solutions for sustainable development and wholeheartedly encourages each individual to act for the planet. Omega and GoodPlanet formed their partnership in 2011; together they aim to raise awareness of the beauty and majesty of the oceans, the dangers they face and the importance of preserving and appreciating these natural resources.
Do good and talk about it…
Omega has committed a portion of the proceeds from its Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet to fully funding a project to preserve the mangroves and seagrasses in Southeast Asia and educating the local population about the conservation of these important natural resources that are such a critical part of a balanced ecosystem.
Even though some photos look pretty much the same you will only by enlarging them discover the little differences and were I put my focus with my macro…
Do you like the new Omega? Looking foreword reading your comments!
great looking watch but the strap does not do it for me i like a nice substantial stainless steel strap, but other than that it looks great .
Omega also sells the watch with a solid metal strap
Nice watch! I like it that the diameter of the watch is a reasonable 43.5mm which means it is very wearable as a daily watch. Nice calibre too!
Yes, the watch just fits perfect on a “normal” wrist and it looks good and the Omega caliber 8605 is a more then up to date mechanical movement…
Way back in 1956 or 1957, my Granddad bought 2 Omega Seamasters and from that time I have loved Omega Watches!
Thanks for the fine report and lovely pictures!
Keep it up!!!
I totally fell in love with that watch. I should have not taken such a close look … 🙂
